Each time this sculpture is exhibited, it is installed with freshly cut flowers, which will vary based on the season and location. The flowers wilt and die over the course of the exhibition.
The video of Alas was made by compiling images that were taken of the sculpture every five minutes over the course of three weeks. The audio is a recording of the artist's eight year old son playing the song Malagueña, which was later stretched to fit the length of the video. (Click on the Vimeo link to watch it full screen)
